I Love London Comedy

New - a monthly series of articles in which our resident MCs tell us what they love most about the London comedy scene. We kick off with Matt Green, resident MC at our Islington comedy clubs:

Maybe I’m biased, but I think that London comedy is the best in the world. There are great comedy clubs all over the UK, but nowhere else has such sheer depth and variety of comedy as London. Every day of the week you can visit dozens of clubs in London showcasing the best of UK and overseas comedy talent; from friendly open mic nights where you can see the stars of the future take their first tentative steps into the spotlight to the most rowdy late night gigs where top class comedians battle to entertain hundreds of people on a drunken night out. Comedians also love London comedy. That’s why so many of them gravitate here from across the UK and the world. The London circuit boasts the best of British talent plus many of the funniest comedians from Canada, Australia, New Zealand, America, Ireland and Europe. Audiences also love London comedy. There’s no way that London could sustain so many different comedy clubs without that affection, and the crowds are always an intriguing mix of tourists, locals, comedy virgins and comedy experts that make almost every gig an exciting and memorable experience for comedian and audience member alike.

Matt's TV credits include: Harry Hill's TV Burp - ITV1 Extras - BBC2 Comedy Lab - Channel 4
